Ernie Hendrickson and the Make Believe

After over a year of honing their craft, Chicago's Ernie Hendrickson and The Make Believe is poised and ready to make its mark on the national jam-scene. With a reverence for roots music forms, and a passion for innovation, the group is on the cutting edge of modern Americana. Dubbing their style as "rock-fusion", the group can steer from driving, techno-infused jazz, to anthemic prog, to blues/rock/funk/reggae - all in the same set. Beginning in the summer '04, TMB was the brainchild of guitarist and songwriter Ernie Hendrickson and drummer/composer Brian Abraham. Joined by keyboardist Brian Felix, formerly of the well known bay area jazz/funk/electronica group The OM Trio, and Chris Clemente, renowed Chicago bassist recognized in bass player magazine for his work in fusion groups, the band began to discover its true potential.

After testing the waters in Chicago for several months, the group quickly became a regional touring act, getting crucial exposure at important Midwestern festivals like Summercamp (MOE, Umphrey's McGee), The Euphio Campout (Bockman, Split Lip Rayfield), opening for national acts like Particle, Fareed Haque Group, Drew Emmitt Band, and covering ground from Madison to Indianapolis to Iowa City to Carbondale.

Focusing on tight ensemble playing, with the tendency to explore the outer regions, Ernie Hendrickson and The Make Believe’s live show is always an adventure, ever evolving, ever questioning the norm.
